FAQs

Are there any dues or cost to me?

There are no dues. We do have uniform polo shirts we wear for some performances. The polos costs around $30.

Do I have to march if I want to play in the Band?

No, do what you are comfortable with doing.

Is the Canton Community Band open to anyone who wants to participate?

Yes; however in order for the band to perform at a consistently high level, the musicians who play in the band must also be able to play at a certain level.

In general, an approximate high school level of proficiency, including some ability to read music, is needed. We strive to be as welcoming to anyone returning to active playing after a hiatus as we are to seasoned or high school musicians. If you have concerns, contact us for more information about the level of musicianship required.

Can I sit in on a rehearsal before I join?

Of course! Check out our schedule page for the next scheduled rehearsal and location details.

What kind of music does the Canton Community Band play?

Pop show tunes, big band arrangements, classical favorites, marches, rags, and cakewalks.

Where does the Canton Community Band rehearsal?

We rehearsal at Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (3 Randolph St, Canton, MA 02021) Library. You can find a map of the campus on our Contact page .
